Studio Practice

Based in Los Angeles, California, Sloane Angell investigates the intersection of traditional form, raw materiality, and contemporary sculpture. Grounded in classical techniques learned during a formative apprenticeship under master potter Akio Nukaga in Kasama, Japan, the practice has evolved to challenge the conventional boundaries of clay. From highly textured, multi fired organic forms to minimal, understated vessels, each piece is hand built in an ongoing dialogue with the medium, exploring the delicate balance between structural permanence and natural fragility.
